Presentations
Over the last several years, George V. Nostrand has presented at conferences all across the country; from Alabama to Alaska. He has provided trainings for agencies, organizations, and even universities, while also speaking regularly in his home state of Vermont. All this while working full-time at a community mental health center.
"I was wandering around the conference, unsure of what session I wanted to go into next, since I felt like I'd heard every topic at least once. But George's name was new to me, so I thought, 'Oh well, I'll check out what this guy has to say." Was I ever surprised! George is real, and down-to-earth, and knows exactly what he is talking about. Professionals don't often get to hear messages like George's. And we need to "

Breaking the Cycle: Getting Beyond Recovery
Why do so many people with mental illness seem to take one step forward and then two steps back? Why don’t people recover from mental illness, or do they? This presentation looks at these questions while exploring the barriers to recovery and presenting keys to getting beyond recovery.
Recovery from the Inside Out: Exploring the Relationship Between Treatment and Recovery
Traditionally the worlds of treatment and recovery have not seen eye to eye. This training explores how both camps need to work together if someone is going to successfully reintegrate into society and become self-sufficient. By successfully integrating recovery-based principles into treatment programs people can work on developing practical skills that will help them not only survive, but also thrive.
