Public Speaking/ Trainings

"I was wandering around the conference, unsure of what session I wanted to go into next, since I felt like I'd heard every topic at least once. But George's name was new to me, so I thought, 'Oh well, I'll check out what this guy has to say." Was I ever surprised! George is real, and down-to-earth, and knows exactly what he is talking about. Professionals don't often get to hear messages like George's. And we need to."
Praise from Lori Magnuson, Western Washington University

Presentations/ Trainings offered:

A diversity style training that looks at how the way providers perceive, treat, and deliver services can affect client outcomes. This presentation addresses a variety of topics including expectations, goals, risk, and natural consequences.

Why do so many people with mental illness seem to take one step forward and then two steps back? Why don’t people recover from mental illness, or do they? This presentation looks at these questions while exploring the barriers to recovery and presenting keys to getting beyond recovery.

Traditionally the worlds of treatment and recovery have not seen eye to eye. This training explores how both camps need to work together if someone if going to successfully reintegrate into society and become self-sufficient. By successfully integrating recovery-based principles into treatment programs people can work on developing practical skills that will help them not only survive, but also thrive.

Using the lyrics of an original song, the presenter walks people through important components to recovery – including having fun! An inspirational presentation for people with mental illness, or any disability, that helps people to find hope and their own voice. Includes a hands-on exercise that is guaranteed to be a hit.

George has also spoken on a number of topics around mental health, employment, and recovery and more than willingly tailors his presentation to your audience and needs.
