Below are bands or musicians I have actually seen play, many who are friends of mine. There's contact info. and a short blurb. Contact them directly for more info./ booking information.
Rutland Area Musicians:
Bow Thayer (& Perfect Train Wreck) - www.bowthayer.com
I met Bow years ago at one of the more hip places I've ever seen in Vermont, Toadstool Harry's. While Toadstool's is no more, Bow has kept at it and has established himself as a musician to reckon with. His last album featured Levon Helm on the drums and last time I saw him, he told me he was going to be opening up for John Hiatt. This is no fluke, Bow's the real deal.. Check him out.
Jim Gilmour - www.jimgilmour.com
In Counting Crowes song Mr. Jones Adam Duritz, the lead singer croones, "I wanna' be Bob Dylan". We'll if it were me I might have said, "I wanna' be Jim Gilour." Jim's voice has to be heard to be believed. He's really got it. And even though I like to tease him about the number of capos he employs, his approach to the guitar and music in general is unique in it's ambiance and effect. The guys in hhis band are pretty talented to but I really try not to give them any credit.
Other Vermont Bands:
Bluegrass Gospel Project - www.bluegrassgospelproject.com
Unquestionably one of Vermont's Finest bands, driven by the amazing voice of Patti Casey and more strings than I care to count, this Appalachian-style group is a favorite of all types of audiences. I met Paul Miller, guitar player and vocalist in his own right, through the work I do in mental health. Paul is as great a guy as he is musician.
Laura Molinelli - www.lauramolinelli.com
Laura is a good friend of mine from back in the "downtown Tonshend" days, when I played at her Open Mic at the Red Fox Inn, in Bondville. She was always very encouraging and on one occassion gave me the business card of one Jim Gilmour. She also granted me permission to cover her tune, "Dancin' in the Mud". Her voice is beauiful and her lyrics embody small town life in the hills of Vermont. Give her a listen.
Rebecca Padula - www.rebeccapadula.com
Tune into Robert Resnik's All the Traditions any week and you'll hear what I busy bee Rebecca, (or Becky as I call her), is. There's a reason for that. Becky's got a smokin' bluesy/jazzy voice, writes great songs and is a super-nice person. I met Becky back when I lived in Burlington years back and we did the duo thing for a while. She and I reconnected a few years ago and since then our path's seem to keep crossing in a nice way.
